Water run off should be diverted from the stone surfaces via gutters and flashings to avoid staining.
Retaining walls should be waterproofed at the fill side and incorporate adequate drainage provision.
In very hot weather conditions spray the wall surface with water and wet the back of the stone in order to prevent excessive absorption of moisture from the mortar. Allow excess surface water to dry.
Read your instruction leaflet carefully before commencing work. Warranty is limited to replacement of defective materials only. Warranty does not cover damages resulting from building settlement, wall movement, force contact, contact with chemicals or paint, discolouration due to airborne contamination, staining or oxidation.
Sealing of the stone is not necessary although it may be desirable for applications which might be at risk of staining eg on fireplaces exposed to soot and smoke. Only silane or siloxane based masonry sealers should be used and should be tested first in an inconspicuous area as sealers can darken the stone.
Cleaning
Once mortar has been allowed to set, any dirt or other particles can be cleaned using a granulated type detergent mixed with water and a soft brush. Any efflorescence can be cleaned with a soft brush and a solution of 1 part white household vinegar and 5 parts water, although any efflorescence will disappear naturally with time.
Do Not:
Do not use wire brushes, pressure jet washers or acid based products as these may damage the stone. Do not use corner or flat stones in exterior horizontal planes or to cap walls in areas prone to high freeze -thaw action. Do not use below water level eg in swimming pools. Do not use chlorine or other chemicals on the stone as they may cause staining.
